It is certainly is a big call to say you have a favourite place to eat! I have a few favourites and of course do find new favourites every now and then! For the past couple of years, my favourite place to eat breakfast or lunch on Sydney's Northern Beaches, is without a doubt The Healthy Chef Cafe at Avalon Beach.
Creator and Executive Chef of the Cafe is Teresa Cutter.
"Teresa Cutter “The healthy chef” is one of Australia’s leading authorities on healthy cooking. A qualified chef with over 20 years experience, fitness trainer and studies in nutrition, Teresa has combined her knowledge on food, diet and exercise to specialize in developing healthy recipes for people who love food, who love to eat and who have made a conscious decision to maximize their health and well-being. The healthy chef is not about deprivation, it’s a realistic approach to healthy eating that will last a lifetime."
I recently saw Teresa do a cooking demonstration at the Sydney Organic Expo & Green Show at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre, in August. It was fun and informative to watch her, passionately cook two of the dishes, I had previously eaten at her cafe in Avalon.
About three years ago now, a lovely friend of mine, who knew both my passion for healthy food that's done well and that breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, said to me, that she had found a cafe in Avalon, she wanted to take me to for breakfast!
I do love to try something new and I was not disappointed in any way. I have since eaten there for both breakfast or lunch, countless times with family and friends and have found it to be consistently great!
So I thought it really was time I told you about it too!
The cafe doesn't take bookings, you order and pay at the counter and then take one of their funky wooden spoon table numbers and find yourself a table, inside or out.
The service is very good and the food comes out promptly. A little tip from me if you are wanting a table for breakfast on the weekends get their early, like 8am!
Here is a few snap shots of some of the dishes we have tried over our many visits.
The photographs are mine, much of the description of the dishes is taken from the menu on Teresa Cutter's website.
